We are asking you today to help the walkers, runners, rollers and bicyclists of tomorrow. We have two opportunities to make public comments that will help shape the future of active transportation in both Glynn and Camden counties.
The Brunswick Area Transportation Study (BATS) 2050 Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is updating the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) to outline major long-term transportation needs.
With your help last year, we issued public comments on the BATS 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP). Now community engagement is being sought to review the draft recommendations of the TIP. The Draft FY 2027-2030 TIP is currently out for a 30-day public comment period, from June 8, 2026 through July 8, 2026.

This is the first transportation plan of its kind in Camden, so your input during this period will help shape active transportation opportunities and safety for all for years to come. Unfortunately, BWGI became aware of the two public meetings that happened earlier this week too late to encourage attendance, but we anticipate more involvement opportunities in the future.
In addition to the public meetings, Camden County is seeking survey responses to identify key areas of need in Camden County, with many of the survey questions focused on active transportation and safety. Visit the link below to learn more about the JCTP and take the brief online survey, adding your voice to advocate for improved active transportation .
Your comments as a cyclist or pedestrian matter. Please share your views about specific projects or changes needed for both of these public input opportunities whether a resident or a visitor of this region. Always include the basic point that safe and expanded bicycle and pedestrian transportation must be prioritized by our local officials, both now and in the future!
The main mission of Bike Walk Golden Isles is working towards safer and more accessible conditions for bicyclists and pedestrians in our community, and we thank you for joining us on this active transportation advocacy journey. By speaking out today, we can help the bikers, walkers, runners, and rollers of tomorrow get around safely and comfortably.
Act quickly as the public comment periods will close soon.
