A local cyclist, runner, and bike advocate, Ron Harding, has joined the BWGI staff as our new Executive Director. Ron is replacing Tavel Cowan, whose advocacy and passion fueled the growth of BWGI over the past two and a half years. We are excited to see where Ron will take the organization next.
A graduate of Shepherd University and Georgia Southern University, Ron worked many years in higher education after transitioning from transactional quality analysis in the manufacturing sector.
Before settling in the Golden Isles in 2012, his home was in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, where he was a competitive cross-country mountain biker and road cyclist.
Ron continues to ride bicycles both on trails and on the road, and has taken up running in recent years, completing his first marathon in 2026. His experience as a cyclist and pedestrian has fueled his passion to help make the Golden Isles a great place for people of all ages and abilities to walk, bike, or roll – whether for fitness, recreation, or transportation.
