Updated February 26: We are no longer seeking applicants for this role. The position has been filled.

Bike Walk Golden Isles is seeking an Executive Director to lead our mission of making Southeast Georgia safer and more accessible for people who bike, walk, run, and roll.

The person who fills this role will define both the position and the direction of our organization. If you are passionate about public health, community building, sustainable transportation, or making our coastal communities better places to live, this position offers a unique opportunity to create lasting impact in Glynn, Camden, and McIntosh counties.

With primary funding from the Georgia Office of Highway Safety and growing community support, BWGI is positioned to expand its reach and deepen its impact. The person who steps into this role will have the freedom to shape not just their daily work, but also the strategic direction we take as an organization.

You will work alongside a committed Board of Directors and a part-time Education Coordinator to advance safety initiatives, engage with community members, influence policy, and build partnerships that create real change for residents and visitors of this beautiful region.

What You’ll Do

Lead day-to-day operations while assisting the Board in driving our mission forward. You will oversee finances, prepare grant applications and reports (including our critical GOHS grant), and ensure we are operating efficiently and effectively.

Champion safety and education by planning and conducting bicycle and pedestrian safety events, coordinating infrastructure counts, and creating educational materials like safety guides and maps that help people navigate our communities safely.

Build community connections by attending events, serving as our liaison to government agencies and community organizations, and representing BWGI’s voice on bicycle, pedestrian, and accessibility issues.

Grow our impact by identifying and pursuing additional funding sources—grants, donations, and fundraising opportunities—while managing membership drives and maintaining our engagement platforms.

Manage our team by supervising the Education Coordinator and collaborating to keep our social media platforms, website, and community outreach current and compelling.

Stay at the forefront of bicycle, pedestrian, and accessibility best practices through ongoing professional development.

Who We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate brings:

Communication skills: You speak effectively to diverse audiences, write compelling materials, and can build relationships with everyone from government officials to grassroots volunteers.

Organizational know-how: You understand how nonprofits work, can manage budgets and grants, and keep multiple projects moving forward.

Technical competency: You are comfortable with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Adobe Acrobat, and can learn new tools quickly.

Subject matter knowledge: Familiarity with bicycle and pedestrian facilities, safe systems approaches, and how to educate the public about using active transportation safely.

Marketing mindset: You can develop promotional programs, manage website content, and leverage social media to grow our reach.

Passion for the mission: You believe in creating communities where everyone can safely bike, walk, and roll, and you’re excited to make that vision reality.
