On March 11th, BWGI hosted our second walk of the year in our “Walk With A…” series, this time featuring prolific local artist Roderrick Davis. As we strolled through downtown Brunswick, Davis shared his knowledge of the vibrant murals that bring our community to life—highlighting the stories behind the art, the talented artists who created them, and the impact of public art in shaping our city’s character.

Throughout the walk, BWGI’s Education Coordinator, Eve Christy, pointed out accessibility challenges along the route. Crumbling sidewalks, unexpected obstacles, and missing curb cuts made it clear that not everyone can easily navigate these spaces. These barriers particularly affect those using wheelchairs, walkers, strollers, or anyone with mobility or visual impairments, underscoring the need for more inclusive pedestrian infrastructure.

Walks like this serve as both an appreciation of our city’s culture, history, and community, while also focusing a critical lens on safety. At BWGI, we believe everyone deserves to move through their community safely and comfortably on foot and on wheels. Through our advocacy, we aim to ensure that our streets are as welcoming and accessible as the murals that adorn them.

Artists featured in this walk: Roderrick Davis, BK Foxx, Sheila Preebright, Megan Torello, Jeff LeMieux, Cullen Peck, Catherine Durrett, Alyson Bruce, and Tori Stevens.
