Bike Walk Golden Isles is thrilled to announce the launch of “Walk With A…”, a monthly walk-and-talk series designed to bring people together, spark engaging conversations, and promote pedestrian safety in the Golden Isles. The series invites participants to explore their community in a new way.
Join us for our first walk February 11 at 9:30 AM as Ashby Worley of The Nature Conservancy leads us for a “Walk With A… Climate Scientist,” along a downtown loop starting at the Wick 3.0 (503 Gloucester St., Brunswick). Visit the event page for more information.

Each walk in this series will be led by community members from diverse backgrounds. We will walk alongside historians, artists, community advocates, elected officials, scientists, and more. As we alternate strolling through Brunswick and Saint Simons each month, we will assess the safety, accessibility, and overall experience of our walking route. BWGI will encourage participants to consider the challenges faced by others, such as navigating with mobility issues, visual impairments, chronic pain, or when accompanied by young children.
We aim to connect communities, highlight pedestrian and cyclist safety concerns, and empower citizens to advocate for safer, more accessible streets.
By fostering these conversations, we aim to connect communities, highlight pedestrian and cyclist safety concerns, and empower citizens to advocate for safer, more accessible streets. During our recent AARP walk audit of the Altama/MLK corridor in Brunswick, our team worked together to identify areas for improvement, and we hope to bring that same spirit of collaboration to these monthly walks.
“Walk With A…” is more than a chance to stretch your legs—it’s an opportunity to connect with neighbors, learn from local leaders, and help shape a safer, healthier Golden Isles. Whether you’re a seasoned walker or just looking for a reason to get outside, we hope you will join us along this journey.
Walks will be held at 9:30 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month. Mark your calendars for our first walk on February 11 in Brunswick, followed by a mural walk in Brunswick on March 11. Our first Saint Simons Island walk will be held on April 8 (location TBD).
Stay tuned for updates on leaders, routes, and special Saturday dates!
Together, let’s build a more connected, pedestrian-friendly community—one step at a time.
