SUMMARY:Law Enforcement Bicycle Safety Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join Georgia Bikes and Bike Walk Golden Isles for a Brunswick-area Law Enforcement Bicycle Safety Workshop on Friday\, May 3. \nThe course covers the best practices for law enforcement officers to educate bicyclists\, pedestrians\, and drivers on the safe use of roadways. Also included is a review of O.C.G.A. sections pertinent to bicycles and pedestrians\, an examination of bicycle and pedestrian facility types\, an update on trends in bicycling in Georgia\, information on crash reporting\, an analysis of bicycle and pedestrian crash data\, and strategies for improving pedestrian safety. Attendance is worth two hours of POST credit for participating police officers and is open to all law enforcement officials in Georgia. \nThere are two presentations\, 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.\, and will be held at the Wick 3.0\, 501 Gloucester St.\, Brunswick. \nThis course is offered by Georgia Bikes and Bike Walk Golden Isles and is supported by funding from the Georgia Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. \nFor questions\, contact Justin Bristol at justin@georgiabikes.org. \nClick here to register for the event.

DESCRIPTION:Do you know all you need to know to safely ride a bike with traffic? Do you feel you know enough to teach your children how to ride cautiously and conspicuously while on their own? When you drive your car\, are you confident on how to share the road with people on bikes? \nThe Smart Cycling program gives you the tips\, tools\, and techniques to confidently answer YES to each question. This class is taught by League of American Bicyclists certified instructors and is presented by Georgia Bikes in partnership with Bike Walk Golden Isles. \nThe class will be held at 41514 Richmond St. in downtown Brunswick (the parking lot directly behind the Wick 3.0\, 501 Gloucester St.). Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian\, who is also registered for the class. \nParticipants should complete the online portion of the class before attending the on-bike drills session. DESCRIPTION:From the race registration page: \nSt. Francis Xavier Catholic School is hosting the annual Crusaders 5K and Fun Run. We are excited to encourage movement and promote health and fitness in the community. This event is for all levels of fitness. While the run/walk itself will be fun\, the 5K will be professionally timed\, with awards for each age group. The Crusaders Run will begin and end near the new St. Francis Xavier Catholic School in downtown Brunswick. All proceeds from the Crusaders Run will help support funding of a new parking lot. \n“Therefore\, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses\, let us also lay aside every weight and sin which clings so closely\, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.”  Hebrews 12:1 \nDate: May 18 \nTime:  5K start 7:30 A.M.    Fun Run start: 9 A.M. \nSt Francis Xavier Catholic School \n1129 Grant Street\, Brunswick\, GA 31520 \nONLINE REGISTRATION CLOSES ON MIDNIGHT MAY 16TH.  You can register on packet pick up and on race day. \nRace day registration begins at 6:15am:  5k $40   Fun Run $30 \nPACKET PICK UP \nIf you pre registered you can pick up your bib starting on Friday\, May 17th\, from 3:30pm-6:30pm in the gym at St Francis located at 1121 UNION ST. \nAnyone that would still like to register can do so on Friday or Saturday before the race.  Please note that the race will not be accepting cash or checks and instead will direct you to sign up via a QR code.  Shirts are not guaranteed for anyone registering at packet pick up or on race day.
