SUMMARY:5K & Family Fun Day for Maternal Health Awareness
DESCRIPTION:Georgia is among the most dangerous states for pregnant women in the country. Thus\, it important to start the conversation with women on how to advocate for themselves in the doctors office and in the delivery room. This charity race’s goal is to raise funds for economically vulnerable women and their babies to receive high-quality maternal and infant care and to start the conversation about maternal health. We will begin the morning with a 5K race followed by a FREE family health day event. You do not have to attend the race in order to attend the free family health day event! This race supports our veterans by raising awareness of suicide prevention and working towards ending it once and for all! \n22 Veterans commit suicide every day!!!   \nThis double-digit number has shaped how Americans think about military veterans and their daily struggles. This staggering number has become a cry for advocates trying to call attention to suicide among veterans\, especially U.S. combat-injured veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. \nMany injured U.S. combat-injured veterans struggle with physical disabilities\, including loss of limbs and mental health issues such as Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Fairways for Freedom® provides the opportunity for reintegration back into society through many holistic initiatives\, including the game of golf. \nThis November 9th\, Fairways for Freedom® is partnering with SSI VFW Post 4092 to host the Veterans Day 5K Beach Race/1 Mile Walk.
