SUMMARY:Veterans Day 5K Beach Race/1 Mile Walk
DESCRIPTION:We invite you and your family to join us on November 9th\, 2024\, at 8:00 a.m. for a 5K Beach Race/ 1 Mile Walk to celebrate Veterans Day!! This race supports our veterans by raising awareness of suicide prevention and working towards ending it once and for all! \n22 Veterans commit suicide every day!!!   \nThis double-digit number has shaped how Americans think about military veterans and their daily struggles. This staggering number has become a cry for advocates trying to call attention to suicide among veterans\, especially U.S. combat-injured veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. \nMany injured U.S. combat-injured veterans struggle with physical disabilities\, including loss of limbs and mental health issues such as Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Fairways for Freedom® provides the opportunity for reintegration back into society through many holistic initiatives\, including the game of golf. \nThis November 9th\, Fairways for Freedom® is partnering with SSI VFW Post 4092 to host the Veterans Day 5K Beach Race/1 Mile Walk. Funds raised from this event will provide LOCAL U.S. combat-injured veterans the opportunity to heal. \n  \nREGISTRATION INFORMATION: \n\n$35 entry fee 5K Race (T-shirt\, medal and swag bag)\n$35 entry fee 1 Mile walk (T-shirt\, medal and swag bag)\n$20 for children under 12 (swag bag and participation ribbon)\n100% of entry fees and donations go directly to Fairways for Freedom®\nRegistration received before October 21st\, 2024 will be guaranteed a T-shirt.\nRegistration will close Saturday\, November 9th @ 7:45 am\n\nLOCATION: \nCoast Guard Station / East Beach\, 4100 First Street\, Saint Simons Island\, GA 31522 \n*Please note\, there may be a county project starting around this date therefore event will be moved to Massengale Park 1350 Ocean Blvd\, St Simons Island\, GA 31522.
